Instructional Baseball Program Overview
Little League players ages 4-8 are welcome to play instructional baseball (T-ball, A, AA)

T-BALL

  • Players hit off tee and bat through batting order. No score is kept. If runner is out; they return to bench.
  • Games will be 3 innings long; or 45 minutes, whichever comes first. Each player will bat every inning. Game length to not exceed more than 45 minutes. 
  • Season will begin in late March with a family kickoff day around the third week of March.  Specific dates for each season will be communicated once registration is closed. 
  • 1 event per week, Saturdays for 90 mins.  45 mins of instruction/practice time, 45 mins of game time.  Usually held in the mornings. 
  • Focus is fun with friends, introduction to the game and the desire to return to the next season!

A - SLUGGERS

  • Coach pitch or introduction to a slow pitching machine. If runner/batter is out they return to dugout/bench. 
  • Innings are 10 minutes long regardless of outs.  Once three outs are achieved, bases are cleared and play continues. This allows players to work on fielding and hitting equally. 
  • Approximately 10 games per season with no little league events the week of spring break and over Memorial Day weekend. 
  • 2 events per week with 1 practice day (determined by the coach) and 1 game on Saturdays. 
  • Game are approximately 90 minutes in length with 30 minutes to warm up.  (2 hours per game day)
  • Schedule may vary from week to week depending on field availability, daylight, etc.

AA - SLUGGERS

  • Coach pitch or introduction to a slow pitching machine. If runner/batter is out they return to dugout/bench.  Towards the end of the season, coaches may choose to introduce kid pitching to prepare for AAA level playing. 
  • Innings are 10 minutes long regardless of outs.  Once three outs are achieved, bases are cleared and play continues. This allows players to work on fielding and hitting equally. 
  • Approximately 10 games per season with no little league events the week of spring break and over Memorial Day weekend. 
  • 2 events per week with 1 practice day (determined by the coach) and 1 game on Saturdays. 
  • Game are approximately 90 minutes in length with 30 minutes to warm up.  (2 hours per game day)

Additional Information:

Team Assignments to be completed by the VP of Instructional Baseball.  
  • Buddy and special requests are considered as well as school affiliation.
  •  Team assignments to be announced approximately two weeks after registration closes and before the team kickoff day.  
  •  Players will be contacted by their coach once teams are formed and teams will meet at the team kickoff and picture day. 
Practices and Game Information:
  • Practice days and times are determined by the coaches and RNLL Scheduler. 
  •  Practice schedules may vary from week to week depending on field availability, daylight, etc.
  •  Plan to practice rain or shine.  
  •  Practices will be held at local school locations and will be confirmed by RNLL scheduler. 
  •  There are approximately 10-12 games, some fall on weekdays and some on Saturdays for A-Sluggers and AA- Sluggers. 
  •  The season ends in early June.
  • No Little League events take place during LWSD spring break or Memorial Day Weekends. 
What does my player need?
  • Required: Baseball glove, cup (for all boys), helmet and water bottle
  • Suggested: Baseball pants, baseball belt, baseball socks (specific color for your team will be communicated once teams are formed)
  •  Optional: baseball bat (must be USA Baseball compliant), bat bag
  •  Provided by league: Team bats, balls, tees, bases, uniforms (Team hat, jersey).  Uniforms will be provided at the team kickoff event.  
Additional Season Information:
  • Fun, sportsmanship & teamwork, and development of baseball skills 
  •  Everyone must show respect for players, coaches, and parents
  •  Attendance & Punctuality to practices and games 
  •  Coaches are fair to all players so that everyone gets the same play time and field positions 
  •  Coaches encourage players to keep trying and coach positively
  •  Parents/Guardians are expected to help out if their child is behaving inappropriately on the field/bench
  •  Safety is a top priority!
  •  Parents are expected to volunteer in some capacity.  There are many opportunities such as Coach, Assistant coach, Team Parent, etc.  These will be listed and suggested by the VP of IB or your child’s Coach.
