Attention Redmond North Little League Families: Important League Eligibility Rule Update!

Exciting news for the Redmond North community! Little League has updated its eligibility rules (link to LL site) to make Little League baseball more accessible to families even outside of the set boundary lines.
What’s New:
  • Expanded Eligibility: Children ages 4-7 can now choose to play in any league that fits their needs, even if they live outside traditional Redmond North Little League boundaries.
  • Family-Friendly Flexibility: Older siblings of players ages 4-7 who join a league by choice can also participate in the same league, enjoying full eligibility.
  • Age Requirements for Older Players: Players ages 8-16 as of the 2025 season (born on or before September 1, 2017, for baseball or January 1, 2017, for softball) will continue to follow the current boundary requirements based on residency or school enrollment.

Age Descriptions:

Tee Ball

Players who are league age 4-5 are eligible to be selected to a Tee Ball team. If your child has played at least one season of Tee Ball and feels comfortable with the Tee Ball basics, we highly encourage you to sign up for "A" baseball. Players who are Kindergarten and up should play in a minor league division.

Minor League/Instructional Baseball "A" and "AA"

Players who are league age 5-8 that have participated for one regular season in the Tee Ball Division are eligible to be selected to a Minor League Division (coach pitch or machine pitch) team. Our minor league divisions consist of "A" or "AA" teams. "A" should be for players who are playing first year minor league baseball or who want to focus a bit more on baseball basics. "AA" should be for players who played "A" last season and are ready to progress their skills to the next level of minor league. "AA" continues to be a coach/machine pitch team, where players will be introduced to the fundamentals of pitching and gradually transition to kid pitch toward the end of the season, preparing them for the next step to AAA.

Minor League/Instructional Baseball: "AAA" and "Coast"
Players aged 9-11 are eligible for selection to a Little League (“Minor”) Division team for the regular season. The Minor League division is made up of "AAA" and "Coast" teams, both of which are kid-pitch, providing players with an exciting opportunity to further develop their skills and experience the next level of competition. These teams focus on refining pitching, batting, and fielding skills while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship in a more advanced, game-focused environment.

AAA Baseball
AAA is the first fully kid-pitch program and is designed for players ages 9 and 10. As an instructional division, AAA focuses on developing fundamental skills while introducing a more competitive environment. This division builds a strong foundation of baseball knowledge and prepares players for future divisions, including participation in the year-end tournament.
Teams typically consist of 12 players, organized based on player evaluations. AAA teams are primarily made up of 9-year-olds, with select 8- and 10-year-olds included. Teams practice and play between two to four times per week, with each session consisting of either practice or a game. For 8-year-olds wishing to play AAA, please refer to the important note above.
The season consists of approximately 16 games, with practices and games beginning in March. Each game consists of six innings, with three outs per inning, offering both teams plenty of chances to demonstrate their skills and compete. Base stealing is also allowed, adding an exciting element of strategy to the game. While the focus is on skill development, games are competitive—scores and standings are kept, providing a structured introduction to more advanced levels of play.

Coast Baseball
Coast Baseball is an instructional division designed for players ages 10 to 11, offering an introduction to competitive baseball while continuing to focus on skill development. The program emphasizes building a strong foundation in baseball fundamentals while gradually increasing the level of competition.
Teams typically consist of 12 players, organized based on player evaluations. Coast teams meet between two to four times per week, with each meeting consisting of either a practice or a game.
The season includes approximately 16 to 18 games, with practices and games beginning in March. Each game consists of six innings, with three outs per inning, providing players with plenty of chances to showcase their skills in a more competitive setting. Base stealing is allowed, and scores and standings are kept, offering a structured, competitive experience as players prepare for future levels of play.

Majors Baseball
Majors Baseball is the first fully competitive program in Little League, providing players with the opportunity to experience a higher level of play while continuing to develop their skills in a team-oriented environment.
Designed for players ages 11 and 12, Majors teams typically consist of 12 players, organized based on player evaluations. Majors teams meet about four times per week, with each session including either a practice or a game.
The season consists of approximately 20 games, with practices and games beginning in March. Each game is six innings long, with three outs per inning, offering players plenty of opportunities to compete in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Base stealing is allowed. Scores and standings are kept, providing a full competitive experience as players sharpen their skills and prepare for the transition to even more advanced levels of baseball.

Player Evaluations
Player evaluations are conducted to help us create balanced teams and ensure that each player is placed in the most suitable division for their skill level, allowing them to learn and have a positive experience.
All baseball players with Little League ages of 9, 10, 11, or 12 are required to participate in a player evaluation in January.
Please note: The RNLL board of directors may limit certain divisions to players who are league age 9-12 and will place players in the division that best matches their skill level based on the evaluation process. Registering for a specific division does not guarantee placement on a team in that division.

Intermediate (50/70) Baseball

The Intermediate (50/70) Division is designed for players ages 12-13 and serves as the next step after Majors. This division provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to traditional baseball rules—such as leading off, pick-off moves, and balks—while still playing on a slightly smaller field with 70’ bases and a 50’ pitching distance.

Intermediate teams typically consist of 12-14 players and may include players from neighboring leagues. Teams meet two to three times per week for a mix of practices and games.

Games are played against teams from across District 9, creating a dynamic and competitive environment. The season includes 16-20 games, with practices beginning in early March and games starting in early April. At the conclusion of the regular season, players have the opportunity to try out for an “All-Star” tournament team.

Age Guidelines:

Players who are 12 years old must play in the Majors Division but may also participate in Intermediates.

Players who are 13 years old may choose to play in Intermediates, Juniors, or both.

The Intermediate Division is a great way to transition to larger fields and higher levels of competition while continuing to build skills and confidence.

Juniors Baseball

Juniors Baseball is designed for players ages 13 and 14, offering their first opportunity to play on full-size fields while following traditional baseball rules. Players who are league age 12-14 are eligible to be selected for a Junior League Division team for the regular season. However, the local league board of directors may adjust the age cutoff for this division, as long as it falls within the specified range. For example, a local league may choose to limit the Junior Division to players who are league age 13-14.

Teams typically consist of 12-14 players and may include participants from other area Little Leagues. Teams meet two to four times per week, with each meeting consisting of either a practice or a game.

The season includes approximately 20 games, with practices starting in early March and games beginning in late March or early April. Games are seven innings long, providing players with extended gameplay to further develop their skills. Scores are kept throughout the season, and players have the opportunity to compete as All-Stars in postseason tournaments.

Age Guidelines:

Players who are 13 years old may choose to participate in Intermediates, Juniors, or both.

Juniors Baseball offers a competitive and rewarding experience, helping players transition to more advanced levels of play while continuing to grow their confidence and abilities.

Seniors Baseball

Senior League Baseball is the highest division in Little League, tailored for players ages 15 and 16 to experience advanced, competitive baseball. Teams typically consist of 13-15 players and meet two to four times per week, with a mix of practices and games.

The season includes approximately 20 games, with practices starting in early March and games beginning in late March or early April. Games are seven innings long and are played on full-size fields, following official baseball rules such as leading off, pick-off moves, and balks. Scores and standings are kept throughout the season, providing a competitive environment.

Players who are league age 13-16 are eligible to be selected for a Senior League Division team for the regular season. However, the local league board of directors may adjust the age cutoff, as long as it remains within the specified range. For example, the Senior Division could be limited to players who are league age 15-16.

At the conclusion of the regular season, players have the opportunity to compete in postseason All-Star tournaments, offering further chances to refine their skills and participate at higher levels of play.

Senior League Baseball offers a rewarding and competitive experience, preparing players for high school baseball and beyond while fostering a love for the game.

Please Note: Players whose league ages fall outside the age ranges specified above are not eligible to participate in any baseball division of Little League® for the current season. We encourage those players to explore other opportunities and revisit Little League eligibility in future seasons if applicable.
